So. The biopsy they took up my upper left back was perfectly normal. Just a funky mole, nothing to it. The one on my arm and the center of my back, however, not so normal.
Turns out I've got something called a Spitz nevus, which is seen most often in children and young adults, and is 'generally considered benign'. Standard procedure is to go back, remove more tissue, and test the larger sample to make sure it's not a misdiagnosis. So, starting the last Friday of February, I'm going to have stitches and be unable to participate in swimming. They probably won't be too happy about letting me try out for soccer, which will be in the middle of March, and there's no way I'm letting them know I play keeper, or there's no way in hell they'd let me play.
Great.
And now, they want me to go in for annual checks, just to make sure they catch it if I do develop melanoma. So I'm up to three doctors now. Lucky me.

(i.e. your reward for checking DA once every blue moon or so.
